Leapmotor has officially entered the South African market, introducing the C10 REEV—an electric SUV that bridges the gap between pure EVs and traditional hybrids. The C10 REEV is designed for practicality in South Africa’s unique landscape and delivers a full electric driving experience for daily urban commutes, but thanks to its 1,5-litre petrol engine acting as a generator, it eliminates the range anxiety typically associated with battery-only vehicles.

The vehicle offers an electric-only range of 145 km, extending to 970 km with generator assistance, making it viable for both city driving and long interprovincial trips. From a performance perspective, the C10 REEV employs rear-wheel drive and produces 158 kW and 320 Nm, ensuring strong performance and balanced handling.

Acceleration from 0–100km/h comes in at 8,5 seconds, which is competitive for the segment. Fast charging infrastructure is supported: DC charging delivers 50% battery in 18 minutes, or 80% in just 30 minutes. AC home charging brings the battery to full overnight.

Safety features are comprehensive, including seven crash bags, ISOFIX anchors, autonomous emergency braking for cars, pedestrians and cyclists, adaptive cruise control, lane centering, lane departure warning and driver monitoring to detect drowsiness or distraction.

Aesthetically, the C10 REEV projects a premium image with flush door handles, 18-inch or 20-inch alloy wheels and adaptive LED headlights. The interior is equally upscale, featuring power-adjustable heated and ventilated seats with memory function, a flat floor for enhanced space and a 12-speaker surround sound system. The panoramic sunroof and high-quality materials reinforce the vehicle’s premium positioning.

Advanced technology is a focal point, with infotainment supporting over-the-air software updates to ensure the system remains current. Connectivity and user interface standards are on par with global competitors. The C10 REEV is available in two trims—Style and Design—priced at R759 900 and R799 900 respectively. Both include a 5-year/100 000 km warranty and service plan, offering customers peace of mind and predictable maintenance costs.
