Changan has officially launched the Deepal S07, a new luxury electric coupé that arrives under the company’s banner of being “Driven To Evolve,” presenting a blend of design and technology for the evolving South African market.
Drawing from its design origins in Turin, Italy, and engineering from the UK, the S07 features a coupé-inspired shape. Its profile is characterised by frameless doors, concealed door handles and prominent 20-inch alloy wheels, creating a look that is both modern and streamlined. Signature LED lighting at the front and rear completes its contemporary aesthetic.

Inside, the cabin takes inspiration from Mediterranean yacht design, resulting in a minimalist and considered environment. A wraparound centre console, soft-touch materials, and unique panel finishes define the space. Features such as vegan leather seating and a panoramic sunroof aim to provide a sense of elevated comfort for occupants.
Technologically, the S07 is centred around a rotating 15,6-inch infotainment screen. The system incorporates intelligent voice and gesture controls and an augmented reality head-up display that projects navigation cues onto the windscreen. A suite of driver-assistance systems is included, alongside convenience features like a mobile phone key and onboard Wi-Fi.

Underpinning the vehicle is a dedicated electric vehicle platform. The electric powertrain delivers 160 kW and 320 Nm of torque, offering responsive acceleration. Changan claims the S07 can cover up to 560 kilometres on a single charge, with a fast-charging capability that can add significant range in approximately 15 minutes.
Safety is addressed through multiple systems, including lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and traffic and pedestrian detection. A high-definition 360-degree camera system and multiple crash bags are also part of the standard offering.
The Deepal S07 arrives in South Africa backed by a 5-year/150 000 km warranty, but pricing has not yet been announced.
