South African drivers looking to make the switch to electric now have a new option, but it comes with a higher price tag albeit Geely Auto South Africa has introduced the E5 Apex Plus with increased power output while starting at R788 888.
The new model sits at the top of the expanded E5 lineup, which includes the Aspire from R699 999 and the Apex from R759 999. The Apex Plus brings a larger battery and extended driving range, aimed at buyers who want more long-distance capability without sacrificing everyday usability.
Under the bonnet, a front-mounted electric motor delivers 160 kW and 320 Nm of torque, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 7,6 seconds, with a top speed of 175 km/h. The 68,39 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery offers an estimated WLTP range of 450 kilometres. Charging from 30% to 80% takes roughly 20 minutes using a 100 kW DC fast charger, while home charging is supported at up to 11 kW AC.

Inside, the cabin features a 15,4-inch HD touchscreen, a 10,2-inch digital driver display, wireless phone charging, and voice control. Over-the-air software updates and a panoramic sunroof are also included. The flat-floor EV layout contributes to a roomier interior, with dimensions of 4 615 mm in length, 1 901 mm in width and a wheelbase of 2 750 mm. Luggage capacity comes in at 461 litres.
Safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind spot detection, and a driver monitoring system, along with multiple airbags and hill descent control.
Geely backs the Apex Plus with its CARE+ package: a 6-year or 150 000 km vehicle warranty, a 6-year or 120 000 km service plan, an 8-year or 200 000 km battery warranty, and five years of unlimited roadside assistance. Buyers also receive a wall box charger, an emergency charging cable, and a R12 000 charging voucher when financing through Geely Finance.
