Amid the fire and fury of a fireworks display, the launch of the Jetour T1 and T2 ranges on the Grand Parade in Cape Town also brought back the kind of reveal not seen since Covid and one that gave emphasis to Jetour taking the South African market seriously.

With 55 dealerships across the region the offroad SUV twins arrive with competitive pricing and high levels of specification, the chunky looks giving meaning to that favourite descriptor from automotive designers as having ‘a purposeful stance’.

Nic Campbell, Vice President of Jetour South Africa says. "Since Jetour first entered the South African market last year, there has been considerable anticipation for the T-Series. Introducing both the T1 and T2 at the same time is a move we believe will change the way people experience SUVs in South Africa.

“These models deliver what the market has been asking for: affordable luxury, striking design, premium features and the peace of mind that comes with reliable parts availability and customer service."

Positioned as a compact and versatile SUV, the Jetour T1 is presented in four model grades: the 1.5TD 2WD Edge, the 1.5TD 2WD Aspire, the 2.0TD 4WD Xplora and the flagship 2.0TD 4WD Odyssey.

The T1 range comes equipped with a number of standard features, including 540-degree panoramic view cameras, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring, and full LED lighting. Practical elements such as electrically adjustable and heated mirrors, roof racks and privacy glass are also included.

Power is provided by either a 1,5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 125 kW or a 2,0-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 180 kW, both paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The higher-specification Xplora and Odyssey models feature an intelligent 4-wheel drive system, high ground clearance and eight driving modes for various terrain conditions.

Inside, the cabin incorporates a 15,6-inch infotainment screen on the Xplora and Odyssey, dual-layer soundproof glass, and ergonomic seats. The Odyssey model adds a Sony 9-speaker surround sound system.

Pricing for the T1 starts at R514 900 for the Edge, R544 900 for the Aspire, R594 900 for the Xplora and R634 900 for the Odyssey.

The more rugged T2 line-up consists of three variants: the 2WD 1.5TD Aspire, and two 4WD models, the 2.0TD Xplora and the 2.0TD Odyssey. The Aspire model produces 125 kW and 270 Nm of torque, while the Xplora and Odyssey deliver 180 kW and 375 Nm.

The T2 shares many of the T1's safety and convenience technologies, such as the 540-degree camera system and LED lighting. It also features practical additions like illuminated door sills and, on the Aspire model, a space-saver spare wheel. The Odyssey variant offers increased dimensions for added interior space.

The T2 Aspire is priced at R569 900, the T2 Xplora at R639 900 and the T2 Odyssey at R679 900.

Jetour entered the South African market in September of last year with its Dashing and X70 Plus models. The brand has since achieved 12th place in national passenger car sales rankings. Its rapid local growth was recently recognised with a Gold Status award in the 2025 NADA Dealer Satisfaction Index.
