In a demonstration of brand unity and customer engagement, Suzuki Jimny owners across South Africa converged at Louvain Guest Farm to set a new Guinness World Record: the most car doors closed simultaneously. The event, the second annual Jimny Gathering, has solidified Suzuki's position as a leader in cultivating an active and passionate user community.
The numbers speak for themselves: 1 127 vehicles present, with participants ranging from classic SJ models to the latest five-door variants. On cue, 1 838 doors closed in unison—a moment officially certified by an on-site Guinness World Records adjudicator. This achievement follows last year’s success, where the Jimny Gathering secured the title for most vehicles switching on their lights simultaneously.

Brendon Carpenter, Brand Marketing Manager at Suzuki Auto South Africa, commented: “This award builds on last year’s success and reinforces the Jimny’s status as a symbol of community and adventure.”
The record-setting event was the highlight of a four-day festival designed to deepen customer loyalty and expand the Jimny brand’s reputation for adventure. Attendees participated in a curated program, including purpose-built off-road trails managed by Suzuki Safaris and Jimny Drive, as well as wellness activities such as yoga, guided walks and a partnership with Cape Town’s Clay Café for custom ceramic Jimny painting.
Entertainment and brand activation were central to the event, with the Suzuki Safari Town Music Festival in Oudtshoorn drawing well-known local artists such as Jeremy Loops and Karen Zoid, hosted by comedian and Jimny owner Schalk Bezuidenhout. The addition of the Jimny Gathering Pageant, with categories such as ‘The Trailblazer’ and ‘Heritage Hero,’ further engaged both new and long-standing customers.

Carpenter emphasized that the new world record is more than a statistic—it is a testament to the Jimny community’s deep brand loyalty. “Jimny Gathering is not just a celebration of an iconic vehicle; it’s about recognizing the passionate owners who define our brand culture. That unity was palpable during the world-record door slam,” he said.
With this achievement, the Jimny community continues to exemplify the brand’s core values: adventure, camaraderie, and lasting memories. As Carpenter concluded, “Whether old or new, three-door or five-door, the Jimny unites people and inspires journeys that go far beyond the drive itself.” The record is yet another milestone in Suzuki’s ongoing commitment to customer engagement and brand excellence.
