In a move to charm families and adventure enthusiasts, Land Rover’s Discovery has rolled out two fresh editions — Tempest and Gemini — alongside design tweaks and practical upgrades across its seven-seat SUV range. The updates celebrate the model’s 35-year legacy while injecting modern flair and versatility for South African families who live life on the go.

The Tempest and Gemini editions pay homage to Discovery’s storied past through their names, drawing inspiration from iconic chapters in the brand’s history. The Tempest nods to the covert development program behind the second-generation Discovery launched in 1998, while Gemini honours the groundbreaking Tdi diesel engine that powered the original 1989 model. Both editions blend heritage with contemporary design, offering exclusive finishes and tech-savvy features.

Joelle Taylor, Head of Discovery Strategy, Product and Services, says: “As a mum of two, I’ve seen how the Discovery handles the chaos of family life. Its spacious interior, seven-seat flexibility and go-anywhere capability mean we’re always ready for spontaneous road trips or muddy rugby matches. These new editions and accessories make it even easier to pack up and explore.”

The Tempest edition has a matte-finish exterior — a first for Discovery — available in Charente Grey, Varesine Blue or Carpathian Grey. A Petra Copper Gloss roof adds contrast, while matching accents on the wing vents, bumper inserts and 22-inch alloy wheels elevate its rugged elegance. Inside, drivers will find extended Ebony Windsor leather and Shadow Aluminium trims, alongside spiral-themed badging.

The Gemini edition debuts a Sedona Red paint option paired with a Gloss Black roof. Its twinned-hexagon badging reflects unity, mirroring the Discovery grille’s design. Family-friendly perks include a front-seat cooler, rear media holders and three-zone climate control. New 21-inch alloy wheels and Gloss Black accents round out its dynamic look, perfect for school runs or weekend getaways.

Both editions come equipped with the latest Ingenium D350 diesel engine, paired with 48V mild-hybrid tech for smoother acceleration and improved fuel efficiency. With 257 kW and 700 Nm of torque, the SUV tackles towing up to 3 500 kg — ideal for caravans or boats. Terrain Response 2 and a 900 mm wading depth ensure confidence on rough roads or rainy-day drives.

Discovery’s new curated packs — Beach Days, Road Trip, and Snow Days — cater to diverse lifestyles. The Beach Days kit includes collapsible organisers, sunshades, and roof racks for surfboards, while the Snow Days pack adds mudflaps, rubber mats and ski carriers. Dog lovers and cyclists aren’t left behind, with pet-friendly carriers and bike racks already in the lineup.

The broader Discovery range now sports new wheel designs, including Dark Grey 22-inch alloys and black 21-inch options. Dynamic HSE models gain three-zone climate control, ensuring comfort for all passengers.
