Mitsubishi Motors South Africa has added the all-new Outlander Sport to its portfolio, the versatile SUV offering multiple drive modes as well as interior luxuries including a Yamaha sound system.
Under the bonnet, the Outlander Sport is powered by a 1,5-litre DOHC 16-valve MIVEC engine, delivering 77 kW and 141 Nm of torque. Paired with a CVT, the drivetrain is exclusively as a two-wheel-drive, although it has four drive modes — Normal, Wet, Gravel and Mud .

The SUV also features Active Yaw Control, which optimises power distribution between the wheels for improved stability and traction. Up front is a MacPherson strut suspension and torsion beam setup at the rear and it has ground clearance of 222 mm.
Jeffrey Allison, General Manager of Marketing at Mitsubishi Motors South Africa (MMSA), says: "Following the launch of the next-generation Mitsubishi Triton, the Outlander Sport continues our extensive model rollout, which is set to gain momentum in 2025. This new SUV embodies everything Mitsubishi stands for durability, style, and practicality."
The SUV’s contemporary design has already garnered global acclaim, including accolades such as the 2024 iF Design Award, the 2023 Good Design Award from the Japan Institute of Design Promotion and the VMARK Vietnam Design Award. Recently, it was also named Best Compact SUV at the ARABCOTY Awards.
The exterior of the Outlander Sport has an evolved Dynamic Shield front design, with L-shaped LED daytime running lights and slotted accents that form a T-shape. This is complemented by fender flares, a floating roofline and a sculpted body. At the rear, T-shaped LED taillights echo the front design.

Inside, the horizontal axis layout of the instrument panel improves forward visibility, essential for navigating challenging terrains. The inclusion of a 12,3-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio system in higher trims allows drivers to customise their displays, while lower trims feature an 8-inch version.
The interior also features advanced seating options, with the front seats providing superior support and comfort, ideal for long journeys or off-road adventures. Rear passengers enjoy class-leading legroom, eight reclining seat adjustments and space for three adults. Mitsubishi has introduced a melange fabric for the dashboard and door trims — a dirt-resistant material that enhances durability.
There is dual-zone automatic air-conditioning, a rear air vent, wireless charging, USB Type-A and Type-C ports and smartphone connectivity via Weblink.
The Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium system, developed in collaboration with Yamaha Corporation includes eight strategically placed speakers that allow occupants to tailor their listening experience with four unique sound modes — Lively, Signature, Powerful and Relaxing.
