Audi South Africa has launched the latest iteration of its S3 Sportback and S3 Sedan, marking a significant update focused on enhanced performance, sophisticated driving dynamics, and a more assertive design. This model upgrade reinforces the S3's standing as a premium compact performance vehicle.
Under the bonnet, the familiar 2.0 TFSI engine now produces 245 kW and 420 Nm of torque, an increase that translates to stronger acceleration and confident pulling power. The sprint from zero to 100 km/h is achieved in 4,7 seconds, with the top speed electronically governed at 250 km/h. A refined seven-speed S tronic transmission contributes to sharper take-off and quicker gear shifts, while optimised throttle response ensures a more engaging drive.

A key technological introduction is the torque splitter, a system previously reserved for the RS 3. This advanced quattro feature uses electronically controlled multiple disk clutches to variably distribute torque between the rear wheels, enhancing both agility through corners and overall stability. Drivers can further tailor the car's character through the Audi drive select system, which now includes a 'dynamic plus' mode. This setting prioritises torque to the outer rear wheel for increased manoeuvrability, while also sharpening engine and transmission mappings.
The chassis has received detailed refinements for improved accuracy. Stiffer suspension components and increased negative wheel camber contribute to sharper steering response and greater lateral grip. The S sport suspension is standard, lowering the body by 15 mm, while an adaptive damper system is available as an option. Complementing these changes are larger, 357 mm front brake discs with new two-piston calipers, designed to handle the increased performance.
Visually, the S3 presents a more focused stance. The front end is dominated by a wider, hexagonal Singleframe grille and large side air intakes, with a motorsport-inspired front spoiler. At the rear, a redesigned bumper and a distinctive, two-part diffuser emphasise its dynamic intent. New expressive paint colours, including District Green and Ascari Blue, are available. The Matrix LED headlights feature new digital daytime running light signatures that can be personalised by the driver.

Inside, the cabin gains new ambient lighting, a redesigned gear shifter, and sport seats with integrated headrests. Digital amenities are comprehensive, featuring a 10,1-inch touch display and the Audi virtual cockpit as standard. Optional packages allow for the addition of features such as a head-up display, MMI navigation plus, and three-zone climate control.
The new Audi S3 range in South Africa consists of two derivatives, both equipped with the 245 kW engine and quattro all-wheel drive: the S3 Sportback is priced at R1 091 100, and the S3 Sedan at R1 106 100. Each model includes a five-year or 100 000 km Audi Freeway Plan and is available for order through local Audi dealerships and Audi Financial Services.
