Porsche has just added the latest 911 Carrera S to its model line-up. This new model, which slots in between the Carrera and the Carrera GTS, will be available in a coupé and cabriolet and offers a significant power upgrade compared to its predecessor. That means that the performance of the new model is the same as that of the previous Carrera GTS. In addition, the specification level has been upgraded and the number of customising options has been increased.
The new Carrera S will be powered by a significantly upgraded version of the twin-turbo 3,0-litre flat six engine. This new version develops 353 kW end torque of 480 Nm, and is linked to an eight-speed double-clutch (PDK) transmission. Two new turbo-chargers are fitted and the charge air-cooling has been extensively revised. The new Carrera S can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3,3 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 308 km/h.

Porsche has upgraded the specification level of the Carrera S; the alloy wheels are fitted with 20-inch and 21-inch tyres on the front and rear wheels respectively and a sports exhaust system with silver tailpipes is standard equipment. The Porsche Torque Vectoring System Plus, not available on the Carrera, is fitted to the Carrera S. The new brake system provides a significant upgrade in terms of driving dynamics. The system, which is familiar from the Carrera GTS comes with red brake capliers and measures 408 mm at the front and 380 mm at the rear. Further performance-enhancing options are available at extra cost.
One of these is the track-proven Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake System and the PASM sports suspension, which lowers ride height by 10 mm and is combined with four-wheel steering. The damper hydraulics have been optimised compared to the previous model , providing improved drivability with inrreased precision and refined responsiveness. The steering, which includes rear-axle steering, is more direct and the kinematics of the front axle have been adjusted. This ensures even more agile and direct handling and significantly increases stability at high speeds.
