Volvo Cars has introduced an updated version of its S90 sedan, blending refined design elements with advanced technology upgrades aimed at elevating both comfort and functionality. The latest iteration aligns with the company’s shift towards electrification, featuring exterior styling that reflects a modern, streamlined aesthetic.
The cabin has been reimagined with premium materials and user-focused technology, including a new-generation interface designed for intuitive interaction. A prominent 11,2-inch central display now dominates the dashboard, offering faster response times and clearer graphics. Over-the-air software updates will enable ongoing improvements to the vehicle’s performance and features.

Available as a plug-in hybrid, the S90 delivers up to 80 kilometres of electric-only range under WLTP testing conditions, allowing many drivers to complete daily journeys without emissions. Volvo reports that nearly half of the distance covered by its recent plug-in hybrids relies solely on electric power. A mild hybrid variant, equipped with a turbocharged petrol engine and front-wheel drive, will also be offered for those prioritising efficiency.
“The S90 remains a pivotal model in our Asian markets, complementing our upcoming fully electric ES90,” said Erik Severinson, Volvo Cars’ Chief Product and Strategy Officer. “This update ensures we continue to meet demand for sophisticated, safety-focused vehicles in the premium sedan segment.”

Building on Volvo’s safety legacy, the S90 incorporates an advanced safety structure and updated driver aids. Its Pilot Assist system now supports steering, acceleration, and braking on both highways and single-lane roads, including stop-and-go traffic. The technology uses lane-marking detection to help keep the vehicle centred, enhancing driver confidence.
Exterior updates include a redesigned front grille, sculpted bonnet and revised bumper styling, while signature Thor’s Hammer headlights now feature slimmer Matrix LED units for improved visibility. At the rear, seamlessly integrated taillights contribute to a cohesive profile. Enhanced sound insulation and adaptive suspension aim to refine ride comfort.
Customers can personalise the S90 with new metallic finishes, Aurora Silver and Mulberry Red, alongside diamond-cut alloy wheels combining polished aluminium and high-gloss black accents.
The updated S90 will become available in China soon, with a phased rollout to other global markets expected thereafter.
