In a move aimed to shake up the competitive compact family car segment, Renault South Africa has unveiled the thoroughly updated Triber, building directly on the popularity of the model first launched in 2020. To date, more than 30 000 units have found homes with South African motorists, cementing its position as a favoured choice for families and e-hailing operators alike.
The new Triber arrives with a sharp new look, being only the second model in the local Renault line-up to showcase the brand’s fresh corporate identity. The front end features a bold piano black grille, a sculpted bonnet and redesigned bumpers. Advanced LED projector headlamps with integrated daytime running lights give the vehicle a modern face, while the rear is treated to new LED tail lamps.

Inside, the cabin has been completely rethought. A new dual-tone dashboard flows into an 8-inch floating touchscreen that supports wireless smartphone replication for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A digital instrument cluster and new upholstery options contribute to a more contemporary feel. For added convenience, a wireless charging pad is available on the top-tier model.
A significant upgrade comes in the form of a strengthened safety package. The new Triber now features six crash bags as standard across all variants, along with a segment-first front parking sensor. This is complemented by a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and Electronic Brake-force Distribution.

Under the bonnet, the Triber continues with the 1,0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with either a five-speed manual transmission or an optional automated manual transmission on the top-spec Iconic model.
This new model is the first product launched under Renault’s ‘Renault Rethink’ brand transformation strategy, proudly featuring the new brand logo. It continues to champion the ‘Rethink Space’ philosophy, offering modular seating that can be configured as a 5, 6, or 7-seater. The cabin includes clever storage solutions and a boot space that expands to 625 litres in its five-seater mode.
