Although the formal launch of the revised Toyota Corolla Cross takes place only later this month in conjunction with what promises to be a very interesting ‘State of the Motor Industry’ address by President and DEO Andrew Kirby, the new lineup is already well displayed on the company website.
The Toyota Corolla Cross, manufactured in South Africa, debuted in late 2021 and, while the lineup remains unchanged from the outgoing version, there are moderate price adjustments across the range. At the entry level, the 1.8 Xi now costs R414 800, up from R408 400. The mid-range 1.8 XS is priced at R452 200 (a R8 300 increase), while the top-tier 1.8 XR now retails at R501 500, reflecting an R18 000 hike.

Notably, the XR gains several new features, including a powered tailgate, a 12,3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a Panoramic View Monitor.
The most noticeable changes occur at the front, where the facelift introduces an ‘integrated geometric bumper’ with a borderless honeycomb grille and a slim upper bar. The XR model also boasts redesigned LED headlights with sequential turn signals. At the rear, selected models now feature updated taillight lenses.
Two new exterior colours — Desert Gold and Oxide Bronze — have been added to the palette. While the Xi and XS models retain their 17-inch alloy wheels, the XR and GR-Sport variants come fitted with 18-inch rims.
Interior updates are modest but include the option of ‘'Terra Rosa’ red leather seat trim for certain models, complementing the standard black upholstery.
The entry-level Xi offers an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, manual air-conditioning, cruise control, rear park distance control, LED headlights and five crash bags (front, side, and driver’s knee).
Stepping up to the XS adds a 10-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, leather-trimmed seats and steering wheel, roof rails, rain-sensing wipers and front park distance control.

The flagship XR takes things further with a handsfree powered tailgate, a panoramic view monitor, a powered driver’s seat, curtain crash bags and advanced safety features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assistance and a Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
The engine lineup remains unchanged, with the 1,8-litre petrol engine delivering 103 kW and 172 Nm. The hybrid variant combines a 1,8-litre engine with electric assistance for a system output of 90 kW, with a claimed fuel consumption of 4,3 l/100 km.
