Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa is expanding its Territory compact SUV line with the introduction of a distinct, limited-run variant: the Territory Dark Edition. Based on the top-tier Titanium model, this new derivative aims to enhance the family-focused vehicle's appeal through unique styling and added technology, positioned as a premium offering within the competitive local SUV segment.

He highlighted the model’s unique exterior and interior accents, coupled with technology enhancements like a new 360-degree camera, as key differentiators. Sewmohan further emphasised the vehicle’s safety credentials and the backing of the Ford Family Promise for sales, service, and customer support.
The Dark Edition sets itself apart visually with prominent black accents. Key exterior features include a satin black grille, high-gloss black finishes on the skid plate, fog lamp accents, mirror caps, roof, integrated roof rails, lower guard trim strip, and window trim. It rides on exclusive 19-inch Ebony Black alloy wheels and features a distinctive black ‘Territory’ badge at the rear. Four exterior colour options are available: Crystal Pearl White, Lustrous Grey, Panther Black, and Ruby Red.
Inside, the dark theme continues with a charcoal black headliner and pillars contrasting against black leather perforated seats, door trims, and instrument panel inserts featuring Cyber Orange stitching. A high-gloss black-painted strip on the instrument panel frames the standard 12,3-inch high-definition digital instrument cluster and the 12,3-inch landscape infotainment touchscreen. Connectivity includes Bluetooth audio, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto (linked to eight speakers), wireless charging, and multiple USB ports.

Power comes from the established Territory 1,8-litre four-cylinder turbo-charged EcoBoost petrol engine, delivering 138 kW and 318 Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The transmission uses a rotary e-Shifter and an electronic parking brake. Features such as Auto Start-Stop and four selectable drive modes (Eco, Normal, Sport, Mountain) are retained, aiming for a balance of performance and efficiency.
The Dark Edition builds on the Territory’s comprehensive safety package, which includes Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross-Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Change Assist. A key addition exclusive to the Dark Edition is the 360-degree camera system, enhancing visibility for parking and manoeuvring. Six airbags and a Thatcham-grade alarm with immobiliser provide further security.
The Territory range benefits from the Ford Family Promise, encompassing the national dealer network, Ford Credit finance, and comprehensive insurance options. The Dark Edition includes a six-year/90 000 km Ford Optional Service Plan, a four-year/120 000 km warranty, four-year/unlimited distance Roadside Assistance, and a five-year/unlimited distance corrosion warranty. Customers can purchase extensions for the service/maintenance plan (up to eight years/165 000 km), warranty (up to seven years/200 000 km), and Roadside Assistance.
The Ford Territory Dark Edition 1,8L EcoBoost 7AT carries a recommended retail price of R733 000 (including VAT). This price includes the mentioned service plan, warranty, roadside assistance, and corrosion warranty. Ford also offers a two-year/unlimited distance warranty on over-the-counter (OTC) parts and service parts. The recommended service interval remains 15 000 km or annually.
