Toyota has nailed it big time by snatching the Manufacturer of the Year Award for the 13th time, picking up the trophy at the recent Southern Africa Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (Savrala) awards ceremony in Johannesburg.
The event, which celebrated its 30th anniversary, saw Toyota secure gold awards in both the Rental and Leasing categories and collected Value Awards for its offerings in these sectors. Adding to the night's achievements, Toyota’s Lufuno Nephawe was acknowledged as the Best Technical Representative.

The MOTY Awards, independently audited by Lightstone Auto, evaluate manufacturers on 39 criteria including communication, support, maintenance, financial aspects and Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) compliance.

Hyundai Automotive South Africa also performed well, earning silver awards in the Rental, Leasing, and Overall Value categories. Stanley Anderson, CEO of Hyundai Automotive South Africa, attributed the results to the concerted efforts of the brand’s dealer network in a demanding market.
GWM South Africa was another notable winner, being named a Rising Star in both rental and leasing. Furthermore, GWM’s National Fleet Manager, Geraldine Pillay, was a joint recipient of the award for Best Account Executive in the leasing category.
