Updated Chery Tiggo 7 launched

Following the recent launch of the Tiggo Cross CSH and Tiggo 7 CSH, Chery South Africa has expanded its local range with the arrival of the updated Tiggo 7 model. Globally recognised as a significant contributor to Chery's sales, the Tiggo 7 has seen more than 1-million units exported internationally since its introduction in 2017.

Visually, the Tiggo 7 features sharper styling, highlighted by a new diamond-effect grille that defines the front appearance. This grille is complemented by standard LED headlights, contributing to a more refined look for this updated model.

South African customers can choose from three trim levels: Prime, Prestige, and Legacy. The range starts with the Prime, equipped with a turbo-charged 1,5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 108 kW and 210 Nm of torque. Power is managed by a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, achieving a claimed combined fuel consumption figure of 6,9 l/100 km.

The entry-level Prime comes well-equipped, featuring 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, automatic wipers, a rearview camera, keyless start and various other amenities. Stepping up to the Prestige trim introduces a more potent 1,6-litre turbo-charged four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 145 kW and 290 Nm of torque.

The Prestige also gains a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, 19-inch wheels, a 540-degree camera, faux leather seats, a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and multi-coloured ambient lighting. At the top of the range, the Legacy utilises the same 145 kW engine as the Prestige but adds further features including heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a power-operated tailgate and an eight-speaker Sony sound system. Both Prime and Prestige models feature a six-speaker audio setup. All trims offer three Driving Modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport.

A comprehensive infotainment system with dual 12,3-inch screens is standard across all variants. One functions as the digital instrument cluster, while the other serves as the multimedia touchscreen, managing functions like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, radio and the ‘Hello Chery’ Intelligent Voice Command. The Tiggo 7 includes three USB ports, including a front-row Type-C fast charger.

The Tiggo 7 offers a boot capacity of 565 litres. The 60:40 split-folding rear seat expands this to 1 396 litres of cargo space. Further practical touches include a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, roof rails, heated and power-adjustable side mirrors, a multi-function steering wheel, second-row air vents, dual cup holders front and rear and a front armrest with storage.

Safety is prioritised, with all models featuring traction control, ESP, brake assist,and at least four crash bags. The Prestige and Legacy trims increase this to eight bags, including curtain bags and a front-centre bag designed to protect front occupants from colliding in a crash. ISOFIX anchorages and rear parking sensors are standard across the range. The Tiggo 7 recently achieved a five-star ANCAP safety rating, scoring 88% for Adult Occupant Protection, 87% for Child Occupant Protection, 72% for Vulnerable Road User Protection, and 86% for Safety Assist.

Advanced driver assistance features are available depending on the trim, including Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assistance, Blind Spot Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control, Integrated Cruise Assist, Front Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Door Opening Warning, Rear Collision Warning, Emergency Lane Keeping, Lane Change Assist, Intelligent Headlamp Control, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Traffic Jam Assist.

Every Tiggo 7 comes with Chery’s after-sales package: a 5-year/60 000 km service plan, a 5-year/150 000 km warranty, and a 10-year/1 000 000 km engine warranty (applicable to the first owner, transferable to a second owner if purchased from a Cherished pre-owned dealership).
