Isuzu Motors South Africa has released an updated version of its MU-X, placing a clear focus on engine upgrades and driver assistance features. The 2026 model year brings refinements to the proven 1,9-litre turbo-diesel powertrain, which now offers smoother power delivery and better fuel efficiency while keeping its outputs of 110 kW and 350 Nm.
The 3,0-litre engine carries over unchanged at 140 kW and 450 Nm across LS, LSE and ONYX XT derivatives. Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, with 4x2 and 4x4 options available. Pricing starts from R752 300 and goes up to R1 026 800.

For the first time on the MU-X, the ONYX XT derivatives receive Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, which adjusts vehicle speed to maintain a safe following distance. Traffic Sign Recognition and an Intelligent Speed Limiter have also been added, using a forward-facing camera to detect posted speed limits.
All models now come with Headlamp Welcome Lights as standard, illuminating the low beam and parking lamps when the vehicle is remotely unlocked.
“The Isuzu MU-X builds on the current model’s core strengths while adding intelligent safety, driver assistance and powertrain refinement,” says Kevin Fouchè, Product Planning Department Executive at Isuzu Motors South Africa.

Other carry-over features include a hands-free power tailgate on LSE and above, a nine-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a seven-inch multi-information display, and a 360-degree Surround View Monitor on LSE and ONYX XT variants.
The suspension retains larger diameter shock absorbers, and the ONYX XT keeps its gloss black exterior accents, red ambient interior lighting and exclusive XT badging.
