The GP3 is the third-generation ultra-performance variant of the MINI hatch built by the in-house performance arm John Cooper Works. It’s designed not just as a hot hatch but as a road-legal track toy. Its limited-run status (just 3 000 units globally) puts it in rarefied territory. This makes it as much about exclusivity and driving thrills as about everyday practicality.
Under the bonnet sits a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing roughly 306 hp (225 kW) and about 450 Nm of torque. That allows a 0-100 km/h sprint in approximately 5.2 seconds, and a top speed around 265 km/h in its uncapped form.
From the outside the GP3 stands out clearly from standard MINIs:
- Aggressive wider wheel arches and rear track-widening, special aerodynamic wings and diffuser elements emphasise its track-ready intent.
- Unique badging and graphics mark it as GP3 – signalling more than just a regular John Cooper Works model.
- Every detail echoes the “race car you can drive every day” concept: track-inspired wheels, special tyres, lowered stance.
Inside, the GP3 mixes MINI charm with serious performance hardware:
- Sport bucket seats and the deletion of rear seats in many markets for weight-saving and driver focus.
- Alcantara/leather upholstery, special stitching, and GP3 badged trims that reinforce the limited-edition feel.
- Despite its track bias, it still retains enough everyday usability so you could realistically use it on public roads.
