The vehicle was manufactured on the 16th of May 1966 and delivered on the 26th of May 1966 to the first owner in Malawi. The vehicle then ended up in Bulawayo Zimbabwe and in 1982 the current owner purchased the car and brought the car to South Africa in 1983
The vehicle underwent a full nut and bolt restoration in 2011 which took a few years. Everything was rebuilt and many new parts were imported as well as the spoke wheels.
Note from the Jaguar E Type book put together by the Jaguar Heritage:
‘There were approximately 2404 cars with automatic gearboxes, 370 with RH drive and 2034 with LH drive, of which 326 were sold in the home market and 1890 in the USA leaving 188 for other markets of which 44 had RH drive and 144 LH drive.’
