The revised 2026.5 Ford Ranger Sport is one of the most important additions to Ford South Africa’s updated Ranger line-up, slotting strategically between the XLT and Wildtrak derivatives. Available on selected Ranger Sport derivatives, the engine produces an impressive 222 kW and 452 Nm, paired with Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission for stronger on-road performance and smoother refinement compared to the previous diesel-focused setup. Buyers can also opt for the powerful 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine delivering 184 kW and 600 Nm on 4x4 models, giving the Sport genuine towing and off-road capability.
Compared to the previous Ranger line-up, the new Sport derivative effectively replaces the gap left between the XLT and Wildtrak models. It introduces a more aggressive appearance package with darkened exterior accents, unique alloy wheels, sports bar styling and a more athletic road presence aimed at lifestyle-oriented buyers.
The revised Sport also benefits from broader updates across the Ranger range. This bakkie now features a timing chain instead of the previous wet timing belt design, improving long-term durability and maintenance confidence. Automatic models across the range now use Ford’s advanced 10-speed transmission, offering improved shift quality and efficiency.
