New Ford Everest Active arrives as the value leader in South Africa
Ford has expanded its Everest line-up in South Africa with the introduction of the new Everest Active, a model designed to make the popular seven-seat SUV more accessible without sacrificing the capability and refinement that have made the Everest one of the country's favourite adventure vehicles.
Launched in South Africa as part of the updated 2026.50 Everest range, the Active replaces the outgoing XLT as the new entry point to the family. The result is a significantly lower starting price while retaining the Everest's rugged ladder-frame construction, generous interior space and impressive towing and off-road credentials.
Under the bonnet is Ford's updated 2.0-litre single-turbo diesel engine, producing 125 kW and 405 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with Ford's smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission and is available in both 4x2 and 4x4 derivatives, giving buyers the flexibility to choose a model that best suits their lifestyle and budget.
Despite its positioning as the entry-level Everest, the Active is far from basic. Standard equipment includes LED headlamps, alloy wheels, a large touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, multiple USB charging points and seating for up to seven occupants. Ford has also equipped the Active with a comprehensive suite of driver assistance and safety technologies, reinforcing the Everest's reputation as a family-friendly SUV.
The revised Everest range has also been simplified. Above the Active sit the Sport, Wildtrak and flagship Platinum models, all powered by Ford's 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine with permanent four-wheel drive. Ford has also confirmed that the more off-road-focused Everest Tremor will join the South African line-up later in 2026.
Pricing for the Everest Active replaces the previous XLT, the Active lowers the Everest's entry price by more than R120,000, making Ford's premium SUV more attainable for buyers looking to move into the large SUV segment.
With its blend of affordability, practicality and genuine all-terrain capability, the new Ford Everest Active is likely to appeal to families, caravan owners and outdoor enthusiasts who want a capable SUV without stepping into the higher-priced V6 models. It delivers the core Everest experience—space, comfort, towing ability and confidence on or off the beaten track—at a considerably more accessible price point.
